Time :


All events have Registration from 10am till at least 11am.
Starts will be from 10.15 until 11.30. Courses close at 1pm.


Courses :


All events will have courses suitable for beginners, improvers and experienced orienteers. (a minimum of colour coded standard White, Yellow, Orange, Light Green and Blue) There will be help and advice for beginners at every event. (Please contact the Co-ordinator if you wish to bring a large group so that we can make arrangements to give you extra help with Registration and allocating Courses and Start times etc.)


Cost :


Saturday events: Seniors: £3.50 Juniors: £1.50 (If we use electronic punching - “SI”- there will be an additional charge of 50p for Seniors to hire a “dibber”. No extra charge for Juniors)

Sunday events: The events on Sunday 11 September and Sunday 4 December are larger events, with a wider range of courses, so the cost will be Seniors: £4 for members of an orienteering club. £5 for non-club members. Juniors £1.50.


Car parking :

NB Essex County Council levy a car parking fee of £2 per car


Dogs :


Unless otherwise stated dogs are welcome at these events, but must be under strict control at all times, both in the Registration area and in the competition area.

At the car park near the entrance to the park. Entrance off A128 Ingrave Road, South of Brentwood.

Directions

From A127/A128 junction Head north up A128 and turn left at brown sign for country park.

From north: Approach along A128 from Brentwood. After Ingrave village turn right into country park at brown sign The nearest station is West Horndon.

Lea Valley Country Park. Grid Ref. TL371005

Registration

Highbridge Car Park, Station Road (A121), about 1 mile west of Waltham Abbey.

Directions

Leave the M25 at Junction 26, signed Waltham Cross (A121). After approx 1.0 mile go straight ahead at roundabout. Road bends to right. At end of road turn left at traffic lights, then right within 200m to Highbridge Car Park (Lea Valley Country Park) entrance.

Waltham Cross Station is on the Liverpool Street to Hertford and Liverpool Street to Cambridge railway lines.
Regular bus services run from the A121 near Waltham Cross Station to outside Highbridge Car Park. Numbers: 250/251/252 Arriva.

Registration

At the main car park in the centre of the park. Entrance off Broxhill Road, Havering-atte-Bower, north of Romford.

Directions

From A12/A127: Signposted from Gallows Corner roundabout (A12/A127 junction). Turn north at roundabout along Straight Road & Broxhill Road towards Havering-atte-Bower village.

From north: Approach along B175 towards Havering-atte-Bower. Signposted from village green.


Facilities

Near the car park there are toilets, an Essex Wildlife Trust Visitor Centre with shop, wildlife displays, refreshments, and a deer enclosure. No car parking fee.

Chingford Plain

Directions

Chingford Plain is 400m NE of Chingford station

From M25 junction 26 follow the A121 east to the City Limits *(Wake Arms) roundabout, take the 4th exit (A104) and continue abut 2 miles to the Robin Hood roundabout; cross this roundabout and after 1 mile turn right into Rangers Road (A1069). After 1 mile turn right into Bury Road and then right again into the Chingford Plain car park.

From A406 North Circular. Follow the A104 north through Woodford Green; after 3 miles turn left into Rangers Road (A1069), then proceed as above.

Fox Burrows car park at Grid reference TQ478929 (the last car park at the end of the main entrance road into the country park).

Directions

The main entrance road into Hainault Forest Country Park is from the A1112 Romford Road. Nearest tube station is Hainault on the Central Line.

Directions

From M11 Junction 7 take A414 signed Harlow and follow A414 north for 4 roundabouts. At fifth roundabout take A1184 signed Bishop’s Stortford and after 1.6 miles turn right just after pedestrian crossing, into Park entrance.

At the country park visitor centre car park, Grid Ref. TQ799869.

Directions

Follow the brown Country Park signs (do not go to Hadleigh castle!). Approach along the A13 westbound through Hadleigh town centre via the one-way system. Turn left (south) into Chapel Lane opposite the Wagon and Horses public house.
