Thanks to everyone who took part in our Swell District Event. The weather was great – Lea Valley Country Park seen at its best, the ground was good and the facilities fine, including the flights of various geese! The event went off very smoothly and no controls were vandalised or lost. There were 27 competitors – a little less than expected, but only 6 juniors. Results were on our website by the same evening!
Our next Swell District event will be at Bedfords Park on Saturday 12th November and our next Chig Event is the Mitre Regional Event on Sunday 20th November. Please come and support both events. Note that a points scoring league for each class and competitor has been started. Details to follow. Finally thanks to all club members who helped to make it a successful day. Ray Curtis |

The obvious problem with planning in River Lee Country Park is the plethora of uncrossable water features - and the area to the north is even worse! This makes providing route choice for the more technical courses very difficult, although working out the best route is not always easy. It also limits the easier courses to the area east of the navigation, as there is nowhere else with enough paths. I would like to thank John Pearce for his advice on the longer courses, and for his on-the-day help in putting out and collecting controls. John Duffield |
