We
apologise for the delay in getting these results finalised. There have
been a number of technical issues which have taken a huge amount of time
to rectify: 1)
Start One
of the start boxes at the west start rebooted just before the event, which
meant that everyone who used this box had to have their start times reset
by 9hrs 43 mins 11secs. 2)
Failed
units A
further 4 control units failed during the event (and another before the
event started!) - 1 of which rebooted and then turned off (#175).
Unfortunately we were unable to reconstruct the splits for those people
who visited #175 between its reboot and turn off times. 3)
Finish
splits As
many people noted, the splits between the last control and the finish were
a little on the short side! I have to thank those people who took their
own splits and were able to point out that their split between the start
and first control was too long. All the start and finish units had been
programmed 17sec behind the control units, so we have amended everyone's
start and finish actual time to correct this. The overall elapsed times
are unaffected, but the 1st and last splits should now be
accurate. 4)
Road-crossing
(the one we'd planned for!) Removing
a split in OE2003 is surprisingly difficult, as the programme only records
the actual time of a punch and not the splits. OE2003 also doesn't allow
[recalculated] punch-times to be imported, but it does let you import a
recalculated overall time. Thus these results are based on the overall
time without the road-crossing split, even though you will still be
able to see it. (If you want to check, the overall time is the cumulative
time at the finish minus the road crossing split (#185-#184) My
thanks go to those people who helped me with the recalculations. Given the
large amount of manual calculations we've had to do to reconstruct the
event, it is possible the odd mistake still exists. We have done our best
to ensure that these are minimal and that the results are an accurate
record of the event.
Finally
thank you for you patience and understanding in this matter |
