Membership

CHIG is a small, friendly club which welcomes new members of all ages and abilities.

As a member you are entitled to discounted entry fees at many events. If you volunteer to help at a CHIG event you get free entry.

You are eligible for discounts at various commercial organisations.

You are covered by British Orienteering's public liability insurance whilst taking part in events.

Adult
£30 / year

Adults aged 26 and over.

Part-year reduction:
May-Aug: £24
Sep-Dec: £18

Membership fees

The membership year runs from January to December.

Young Adult
£19 / year

Adults aged 21-25.

Part-year reduction:
May-Aug: £15
Sep-Dec: £11

Junior
£8 / year

Anyone under the age of 21.

Part-year reduction:
May-Aug: £6
Sep-Dec: £5

Family
£68 / year

2 seniors + unlimited juniors.

Part-year reduction:
May-Aug: £55
Sep-Dec: £42

Note - fees are reduced from 1st May and again from 1st September for new members joining part-way through the calendar year. Anyone who has been a member of British Orienteering at any point in the last 4 years is not eligible for this discount

The benefits of being a CHIG Club member include:

    • Reduced entry fees for many orienteering events

    • Free entry to 4-5 CHIG events per year, if you volunteer to help out on the day

    • Free entry to 1-2 national competitions per year, as part of the CHIG team

    • Discounts on a range of products and services

    • Insurance cover (liability to 3rd parties) at any event registered with British Orienteering.

    • Attend group training sessions with other CHIG members, and benefit from the expert advice of the club coaches

    • Receive monthly newsletter from British Orienteering.

    • Attend organised CHIG social events and link up with other orienteers in your area

    • Follow us on Facebook, X, Instagram and Bluesky.

    • Eligible to compete in Club Championships and represent CHIG for interclub competitions, team events & relays

    • Appear in the BO rankings.
